Paul VI’s Charles Musto earns an honest WCAC golf title; Gonzaga wins team crown

Gonzaga wins the team crown for the 5th time in 6 years.

The Paul VI Junior finished 5 strokes ahead of DeMatha's Evan Santa to win the WCAC Tournament

Charles Musto didn’t have to call himself for the penalty he committed early in his round during Tuesday’s Washington Catholic Athletic Conference golf tournament.

As far as the Paul VI junior could tell, no one had seen him accidentally hit the ball with his putter on the hole, moving it ever so slightly from where it rested near the cup following a 20-foot birdie attempt. And after finishing just two strokes out of first place in last year’s championship, the subsequent one-stroke penalty could have haunted his quest for the title. But Musto didn’t give himself a chance to entertain those thoughts. Instead, he softly shook his head and blurted out the violation.
